Description
A richly coloured Ajrakh modal featuring large butterflies, stylised flowers, leaves and dotted details in rust, black and pale blue on a deep indigo-blue ground. The larger-scale pattern has plenty of movement, while the soft modal base gives the fabric a fluid, elegant fall.
This modal fabric is genuine Ajrakh hand block printed in Barmer, Rajasthan, India. Bhumi & Pari has personally visited the workshop where these fabrics are printed. The workshop uses both natural and synthetic dyes across its textiles, so we do not claim a particular dye type for this individual design.
About modal
Modal is a regenerated cellulose fibre made from plant-derived cellulose. It has a smooth, soft feel and a fluid drape, with a lighter and silkier hand than a typical cotton dress fabric. It is a lovely choice for garments where movement and softness matter, including dresses, skirts, blouses, scarves and relaxed trousers.
Particularly lovely for floaty dresses, skirts, blouses, scarves, wide-leg trousers and other garments where you want the print to move with the fabric.
Because this fabric is genuinely hand block printed, small variations in colour, registration and print are part of its handmade character rather than faults.

How to order
We sell our fabrics in 50 cm increments. Choose the number of increments needed for your total length. For example, select 2 for 1 metre or 4 for 2 metres. Multiple increments will be supplied as one continuous length wherever possible.
Every effort has been made to accurately portray the colours used in this fabric; however, individual monitor settings, lighting and other factors may cause some variation.
We recommend that you use our care instructions:
- Wash the fabric before use, particularly dark colours and indigo. Some residual dye may take more than one wash to remove.
- Gentle cold machine wash
- Do not tumble dry
- Do not bleach
- Warm iron
- Do not dry clean
