Description
A beautifully textured handwoven cotton in a warm rust-orange tone, finished with narrow vertical rows of colourful Kantha stitching in turquoise, pink, green, ochre and muted purple. The fine stitched stripes give the fabric colour and texture without overwhelming the rich rust base.
Authentically handwoven in Tamil Nadu, India, in the area outside Chennai. Bhumi & Pari sources these textiles as part of our small collection of Indian handwoven fabrics.
The decorative running stitch is commonly referred to as Kantha stitch. On the reverse, the working threads create a more visible stitched structure, which can be seen in the product photographs. The base cloth itself is handwoven.
Ideal for dresses, tunics, tops, skirts, lightweight jackets, cushions, bags and textile projects where the stitched surface can become part of the design.
Small variations in the weave, thread tension, colour and alignment are part of the character of a genuinely handwoven textile and are not considered faults.

How to order
We sell our fabrics in 50 cm increments. Choose the number of increments needed for your total length. For example, select 2 for 1 metre or 4 for 2 metres. Multiple increments will be supplied as one continuous length wherever possible.
Every effort has been made to accurately portray the colours used in this fabric; however, individual monitor settings, lighting and other factors may cause some variation.
