Just a little bit about us! bhumi & pari was started to bring together a love of craft and India. After countless trips over more than 20 years we started with a small locally produced children’s clothing. Then COVID hit making it difficult for us to travel.

We find all our products by visiting various parts of India and meeting local makers. We like to visit as many of the manufacturers to check their products and working conditions. Due to COVID we have not been able to do that. India has gone through a really tough time through this period. We are happy that we can continue to support these crafts men and women until we are able to return.

We try to work with three principles in mind: handmade, low environmental impact and fair working conditions. While we can’t do it all, we have a commitment to sustainability. We continue to seek and partner with suppliers who work with similar principles.

The fabrics are sourced from small bespoke workshops mostly located in Rajasthan and Gujarat, but also from other areas in India. These workshops aim to preserve traditional handmade textile manufacturing supporting local people to continue this work.

The fabrics are all natural materials, typically 100% cotton. They are hand-printed with woodblocks or screen-printed. Some are hand woven. They are dyed with natural and vegetable based dyes or synthetic dyes. Various styles of printing are used including Ajrakh and Bagru.

We also work with local families or small workshops for the manufacturing of the garments.

Our homewares and accessories are also manufactured by small local workshops. These are made by hand by craftspeople who are keeping these traditional arts alive.

We will begin to add more products over the next few months, including women’s, men’s and children’s clothing and homewares. Keep an eye out on our website and our facebook and instagram to see what’s coming in.

Namaste!
