Description

A classic handwoven Madras Kattam cotton with a fine ivory-white grid woven over a deep black ground. The neat small-scale check gives the fabric a timeless, graphic quality while the handwoven construction keeps it soft and full of subtle character.

This is genuine Madras Kattam cotton, handwoven in small villages outside Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The check is created by the yarns during weaving rather than printed onto the finished cloth.

A particularly useful fabric for shirts, dresses, skirts, tops, relaxed trousers, patchwork and monochrome sewing projects.

Small variations in the weave, thread tension, colour and alignment are part of the character of a genuinely handwoven textile and are not considered faults.
