Description
Copper enameling is the fusing of glass onto the surface of copper. Glass powder is laid onto the copper surface and is then heated to 700 to 900°C. The powdered glass melts to form a coat on the copper surface. The glass enameling prevents copper from oxidising.
The stringing is done by a traditional Patwa artisan using eco-friendly cotton or faux leather strings and wooden beads.
Care instructions
While the enamel protects the front, the back of the pendant is untreated copper and may develop some tarnish over time
You can prevent this by cleaning it occasionally by washing in warm, soapy water and drying it with a soft polishing cloth.
If it does tarnish you can bring back its shine by rubbing the piece gently with a mixture of use salt and lemon juice or vinegar until the tarnish is gone. Rinse the piece in water and dry it with a soft polishing cloth
To avoid any tarnish you can keep your piece in an airtight container. We also recommend avoiding contact with perfume and hair and body products as much as possible.
